Plate 62 is a context view from the north west from May 1966.  The fences on the fell-side were built in an attempt to prevent heavy snow drifting on to the track. The waiting shelter on the up line is built into the hillside (see SCRCA structure 253370), a retaining wall provided at the back of the platform.  Passenger facilities were removed on 4 May 1971 although the station had been unstaffed for about three years.

Plate 61 is a view from the west of Kell Beck Culvert which is thought to be the largest on the line with a span of 10ft 6ins.The culvert falls through 16ft in small steps. the relieving arches over the main pointed arch help to strengthen the spandrel wall supporting the 50ft embankment retaining wall above. Figure 25 is an official drawing of the culvert (No 90) for Kell Beck.

Figure 25 is an official drawing for Arten Gill Viaduct Plate 60 is a context view of Arten Gill Viaduct from the west.  Construction of the eleven arch structure was entirely of stone, quarried locally, and known as Dent marble, a dark grey limestone with white fossils.  The 220 yard long viaduct had a 117ft high elevation was started on 3 May 1871 and took 4 years to complete.

Plate 58 is an image from 1963 looking north of Dent Head signal box.  The box was brought into use on19 November 1898. It is constructed of wood and measures 21ft 6ins x 11ft 6ins x 8ft carrying an 8 lever tumbler frame.The signal box closed on 11 April 1965. Plate 59 shows the box looking from the north in 1963. Plate 55 is an image of Dent Head from the south from May 1965 taken from above Blea Moor Tunnel north portal (see SCRCA structure 250780). Dent Head Viaduct - Bridge 77 - can be seen on the left of the image. Plate 56 is an undated image of Bridge 76 carrying the railway over the Dent to Hawes road at Greenbanks.  This skew bridge was constructed in 1871 and has a segmental arch with a span of 25ft 6ins. Figure 22 contains detailed drawings for the bridge.

Plate 54 is an un-dated image of the north portal of Blea Moor Tunnel. Plate 53 is a context image (undated) showing the Platelayers' Hut (see SCRCA structure 249270) and the south portal of Blea Moor Tunnel.  The tunnel is 2629 yards long, reaches a depth of 500ft below the moor and took five years to construct between 1870 and 1875.  Also in the image is milepost 249 1/4 (see SCRCA structure 249250).

Plate 38 is an image taken in April 1977 and shows the terrace of 6 cottages in the background.  These are similar to the cottages at Selside - SCRCA structures 244300 and 244350.  Saltlake was the site of a shanty town built by the navvies constructing the line in this area; the name remained in use after the workers left.
