SCRCA Note: Application for listed building consent for "structural stabilisation works"Created on 16 Dec 2013. On 11/09/2013, Network Rail lodged a formal application for listed building consent for "structural stabilisation works" for Garsdale signal box. The public consultation period ended on 07/10/2013. The planned works are both necessary and reasonable, so the SCRCA Project Team did NOT lodge a formal response. SCRCA Note: regarding 'Hangman's Bridge'Created on 9 Dec 2013. A structure listing obtained from Network Rail personnel some years ago assigns the name 'Hangman's Bridge' to Bridge 141 (SCRCA Structure ID 261090) so the name was applied to Bridge 141 when the Draft Structure List was initially drawn-up. However, during a structure survey in summer 2013, a local landowner advised the surveyor that local people apply the term 'Hangman's Bridge' to Bridge 138 (SCRCA Structure ID 260850), not Bridge 141. SCRCA Note: Structure IDs for Kirkby Stephen Signal BoxCreated on 17 Apr 2013. When Kirkby Stephen Signal Box was rebuilt in 1974, the new structure (this structure - Structure ID 266505) was built approximately thirty yards to the north of the 1894 structure it was replacing (Structure ID 266480). One source states that this replacement box opened for traffic on 29th Oct 1974. Unfortunately, this date was noted during research several decades ago and the source was not recorded. |

SCRCA Knowledge Base for Carlisle Power Box / Signal Box (1973 - present)Created on 20 Mar 2013. According to the Signal Box Register published by Network Rail in February 2013, Carlisle Powerbox was built in 1973 and it contains an 'NX Panel' dating from the same year.
