When Kirkby Stephen Signal Box was rebuilt in 1974, the new structure (this structure - Structure ID 266505) was built approximately thirty yards to the north of the 1894 structure it was replacing (Structure ID 266480). One source states that this replacement box opened for traffic on 29th Oct 1974. Unfortunately, this date was noted during research several decades ago and the source was not recorded.
