Plate 55 is an image of Dent Head from the south from May 1965 taken from above Blea Moor Tunnel north portal (see SCRCA structure 250780). Dent Head Viaduct - Bridge 77 - can be seen on the left of the image.

Plate 57 is an undated image from the south west of Dent Head Viaduct.  The Viaduct marked the end of contract No 1.  It is 177 yards long and stands 100ft above the valley.  Construction is of blue limestone with brick arch rings and the ten openings are a nominal 45ft (details appear in LMS Architecture, Figure 52). Construction took 5 years from 1870.

Figure 23 shows the track layout at Dent Head based upon information from a Midland Railway survey of 1923.

Figure 24 shows the signalling diagram for Dent Head based upon information available for 1965.
