Figure 25 is an official drawing for Arten Gill Viaduct

Plate 60 is a context view of Arten Gill Viaduct from the west.  Construction of the eleven arch structure was entirely of stone, quarried locally, and known as Dent marble, a dark grey limestone with white fossils.  The 220 yard long viaduct had a 117ft high elevation was started on 3 May 1871 and took 4 years to complete.
