Plate 78 shows the southern approaches to Garsdale station ["before 1909"] and Hawes Junction South Signal Box is clearly visible in this B&W photograph. The 'down' main starter is also clearly visible. The text accompanying the photograph states that Hawes Junction South Signal Box was ["erected in 1892"] and ["superseded in 1909"]. (Hawes Junction South and Hawes Junction North were replaced by Hawes Junction - later renamed Garsdale - Signal Box - see Structure 256700 and the text accompanying Plate 79 states that the latter ["was brought into use on 10th July 1910"], so one of the dates quoted by Anderson & Fox must be incorrect.
