This image is a crop from a 35mm slide. The photograph was taken from the garden of one of the cottages at Foredale by a resident who worked in the quarries. The camera is facing almost due east, meaning that north is to the left of the image, south to the right.
The sheeted general purpose wagons visible in the North siding would have contained burnt lime. The holding siding (leading towards the signal box) contains a set of railway ballast hopper wagons (catfish or dogfish type). This was where most (or all) of the Arcow output went until an access road for lorries was built.
