Image Notes

Ashwell's Yard lay immediately beyond the Hawes-Ingleton road, which lies immediately beyond the buildings forming the backdrop to this image.

The bright-green linear feature (covered in short grass) curving up from the bottom left hand corner is an embankment built to keep the tramway track reasonably level. The buildings visible here were not constructed until some time after construction work on the railway ceased in 1876.
