SCRCA Note: Justifying the inclusion of this structure in the SCRCA database

Despite its location, there is no evidence that this structure ever had any connection with the railway. It has nonetheless been included in the list of SCRCA structures because:

• it lies within the boundaries of the SCRCA;
• it can be glimpsed from passing trains; and
• it is old. (It is shown on the relevant Midland Railway contract plan and 19th century maps indicate that a lime kiln existed on this site long before the railway was constructed).
