On 17th April 2020, Network Rail lodged planning application number C/45/653A/LB with the Yorkshire Dales National Park Authority seeking "listed building consent for repairs to masonry and rainwater goods and associated works".

As part of the preparatory work, a detailed survey of the structure was carried out. In addition the normal engineering survey of the structure and its condition, this included drone flights to obtain high definition photographs and a LiDAR survey - see:

In November 2020, 100ft high scaffolding towers were constructed to provide access to 7 of the viaduct’s 24 arches and facilitate masonry, drainage and repainting work.

The repair work was completed on 9th April 2021 and it cost £2.1 million.
