In 2015-2016, a completely new rail connection was constructed to serve Dry Rigg Quarry (from Spring 2016) and Arcow Quarry (from Summer 2017). Stone is extracted from the quarries, crushed on site, graded (by size & type), then despatched via a combination of road and rail transport.
The operation of the railhead is documented in an accompanying article - see "An introduction to the new siding at Helwith Bridge for Arcow & Dry Rigg Quarries".
