This typical Midland Railway Company swan-neck water column was removed from the northwest end of the 'down' platform at Lazonby & Kirkoswald station in 1989. It was subsequently installed beside the new tank house at Appleby station circa 1991 to supply water to steam locomotives hauling occassional special passenger services (see Location ID 277230).
