SCRCA Note: Fog Hut (237620) removed but access ladder remains

The following note was recorded by an SCRCA Project assessor during a site visit on 10 October 2016: Viewing from the road bridge over the B6479 looking south, there is no evidence of the fog hut and it must, therefore, have been removed at some time in the past.  There is, however, (as shown in the two images) on the down side of the railway a metal ladder that goes from the track bed to the top of the western embankment.  Presumably this was used by the person working in … Read more

SCRCA Note: Demolition of Gauber Bridge

After a long battle with the planning department of the Yorkshire Dales National Park Authority, Gauber Bridge was demolished by Network Rail on 15th October 2015. The images in this snippet (note) were taken with prior permission on the 8th May 2012 from the northwest end of the 'Up' platform at Hellfield Station. They provide a 360 degree record of the status (demolished vs. extant) of the railway-related structures at the NW end of the station on that date.
