There is no mention of this structure in Anderson & Fox (1986), but Plate 45 is a B&W photograph taken from the south on 15th April 1967 showing the full length of the viaduct and this platelayers hut is just visible on the right hand side. The hut is very small and the image is dark and grainy, but the hut does appear to have at least some of its roof still in situ. |

The caption states that the decision on the number of arches (18 or 24) was not decided "until December 1872" and that the decision depended on the relative availability of stonemasons vs. navvies. Figures quoted for the structure are: overall length = 440 yards; number of spans = 24; span of each arch = 45ft nominal. SCRCA Note: Britain's signalling heritage: Network Rail Signal Box Database (2013)Created on . On 5th March 2013, the Network Rail website contained a page entitled "Britain's signalling heritage" which included a link to an Excel spreadsheet listing all of the remaining signal boxes on the NR network as well as those on preserved railways. SCRCA Note: Garsdale signal box porch and toiletCreated on . The following note regarding Garsdale signal box was provided by Mark Rand (via e-mail) on 8/3/2013: "The porch (and a replacement staircase) was added in 2008/9 as part of the big refurbishment of Garsdale Station by Network Rail. It contains toilet and washing facilities that replaced a stone-built WC on the down platform against the north end of the waiting room. SCRCA Note: Selside Signal Box relocated to "Carnforth Steam Town" (Carnforth, Lancs.)Created on . This signal box was opened for operational use at Selside (on the Settle & Carlisle Railway in North Yorkshire) on 16th June 1907, where it operated an intermediate block post on the double-track main line. It closed for operational use on 30th November 1975. Ais Gill signal box was relocated to the Midland Railway Centre at Butterley (Derbyshire) circa 1983. It now bears the name "Butterley G. F." (i.e. Butterley Ground Frame) and it is mentioned briefly on the following pages of Trust's website: https://www.midlandrailway-butterley.co.uk/butterley-station/signal/ https://www.midlandrailway-butterley.co.uk/signal-boxes/ The signal box is now Grade II listed (L.E.N. 1335401). |

SCRCA Note: Demolition and replacement of Ribblehead Station 'Down' platform and waiting shelterCreated on . The original northbound ('Down') platform and waiting room at Ribblehead Station (Structure IDs 247220 and 247230 respectively) were demolished shortly after the station's closure to passenger traffic on May 4th, 1970. The removal of these redundant structures allowed the nearby transfer sidings for Ribblehead Quarry to be extended.
