These are similar to the cottages at Selside - SCRCA structures 244300 and 244350. Saltlake was the site of a shanty town built by the navvies constructing the line in this area; the name remained in use after the workers left. |

The box was 10ft x 11ft 6in x 8ft of wood construction and was brought into use on 16 June 1907 at a renewal cost of £200. (W & W Committee Minute No 22118, 2/11/1906). The box was closed on 30 November 1975 and removed for preservation.
